Island Governance Short Course: Continuity and Change

I have had the privilege of spending the past week in Jersey with JICAS for the Island Governance Short Course. Sessions led by Caroline Morris, Peter Clegg, Godfrey Baldacchino and organised by Sean Dettman, exploring islands through:

- Case studies

- Actor-network theory

- The importance of multi-roles in small island governance

- One degree of separation

- Islands as novelty sites.

- Island and SNIJ autonomies. 

We explored the impact that sub-national island jurisdictions have on global politics and discourse. I cannot wait to investigate further the impact of governance in islands on my work in intangible cultural heritage.
